    displaying results of equations

I am new to Word 2010. I would like to be able to display the result of an equation that uses mail merged values. I can create the equation but Word doesn't display the result, only the equation itself even when I use Equation Editor. It must be a really simple action that I am over thinking but just can't seem to get it.

The Equation Editor is not a calculator or solver. Its only purpose is to format and present equations as seen in science and math books...

Is there a function to be a calculator in Word?

I'm not sure exactly what you are working with, but Word tables can have formulas similar to Excel's
