A lot of 'databases' are so simple that they can be programmed in Word -if you know to handle it's VBA properties properly -resulting in a file that is approximately 5% of the size of an Access file. The problem is: 'Access'ers have no idea of the VBA possibilities of Excel, nor the 'Excel'lers of Word's possibilities.
