What's this: ads for registered users?

Something happened in the last hour or so. I now see ads below the nav bar and on the first post in each thread.

can these be turned off for registered members please?

This particular one (see attached screenshot) that looks like a facebook chat request is especially annoying. I come here to answer Excel questions. I don't need to have b**bs pushed in my face.

Hmm. No ads anymore, but there's a blank space in the right hand part of the first post, where the ad used to be. Is the tech team at work?

I see something like this, from time to time. Special in the weekends...

I see all posts with a blank space now, as if there is an empty placeholder for something.

Perhaps it's just someone trying to "push b**bs in your face" mate... I see no blank spaces and no ads... (and no b**bs)

There was a yellow message that they were backing up the site or something earlier. That usually translates as the tech team are messing & be alert for down time

I use Adblock Plus (beta, but still works) for Google Chrome (I beleive it has been adapted from Firefox). It removes all (or almost) ads/banners and pop-ups when browsing. It's very efficient!
