    Once upon a time...

... the member reporting spam or foul language or useless posts used to receive a PM with a Thank You from a Mod, Admin.. for helping keep the forum a bit cleaner.

Lately,I've reported 3-4 posts ( about spam I think) but my effort was totally ignored. (unappreciated?)

Anyone had the same sad experience?

    Re: Once upon a time...

    Pepe,

You used to receive a PM (so how would we know about it? ).

Thank you very much for all the reported posts. I am not saying this because you asked for it, but because i mean it.

It really helps us, mods, in cleaning the place up.

I've reported several of these but haven't received acknowledgement. But I don't expect to. As long as the junk is removed all's good.

Pike, please visit www.excelforum.com (our home page as you would have guessed) and you can find the moderators highlighted in green text there.

Don't talk down to people like Pike who was a mod here. He asked who the active mods are. That's not the same as the mod lisying, several don't moderate at all
    Hope that helps.

    Hi Roy,

surely that does list the active mods, i.e. the ones who are currently logged on.

    @Roy,

I hope you don't mind my mentioning it but I seem to have detected a certain degree of negativity in your postings of late, which saddens me somewhat given your sterling service here over the years.

I didn't detect any 'talking down to' Pike in arlette's post. I'm not sure what was really behind Pike's request for information but given his seniority and the frequency of his posts I suspect he is probably generally aware of which mods are 'active'. I put his comment, rightly or wrongly, firmly in the 'tongue in cheek' category.

    In sadness....

Well if he asks it, maybe he's expecting an answer?

Maybe, and thereagain maybe not if it was tongue in cheek.
Frankly, and given the frequency of Pike's postings and general awareness of the forum which must follow, I can't really believe he isn't aware of which mods are actively posting.

    Re: Once upon a time...

I don't know if I would call it a "sad experience". If we place this forum or any other forum in perspective of life and the real trials people go thru daily, maybe not so sad.

I can relate settiment here, and I understand. I like the thank you's too, but in the end, doing my part and the satisfaction from the effort is probably enough.

I hope you don't believe mod's get some type of thank you for what they may do. Have you sent a mod a thank you for their time and effort. It's possible you have and that in itself deserves a , but I personally don't
"expect" it. Instead, collaborating together on a solution to help the OP should be our goal. In time, maybe the thank you's will come and this forum (with your help and mine) will rise again.

I believe your efforts do not go unappreciated, but alas, in the hustle in bustle of life we do miss out on the opportunities to say thank you when presented.

    So, Thank you from me.

    Off the forum subject...

I am a Grandfather to a wonderful and special 3-year old boy named Alex. My heart leaps for joy everytime I see him or think about him (he is visiting his father right now ). In my heart, I know my daughter appreciates the time and effort we her parents put towards taking care of Alex, but has she really ever said "Thank you".

No, I can't remember hearing those words, but in the end, my job, do the best I can to see Alex doesn't have any open threads (I mean needs).

    Keep up the good work...
    HTH
    Regards, Jeff

    Re: Once upon a time...

Well Arlette seemed to only put Pike to what any semi-experienced Forum member would know. I am sure he was asking which mods are actually active, i.e. moderating. Not many from what I see.

Richard - my negative feelings about the Forum are caused by the way my friends (the ex mods) have been treated by the admin here. Also, the deceit that is prevalent & the fact that we are only really allowed to make comments that agree with the owner's views. We have a new moderator thrust upon us who has been deleting posts that don't do this.

Anyway, from now on I'm sticking to answering genuine Excel questions & the Forum can get along as the owner wants.
