    Kudos to Andy Pope

Andy and I both provided help to HR157 with an issue earlier today. I decided to check out Andy's web site and found it both informative and entertaining. I have it bookmarked for future use.

The kicker that had the office freaked out was his mindreader.xls

I accepted his offer and tried to figure it out without looking at the code (not that reading the code would have helped me... still a code newbie at best). It took a bit but I was able to get it!

Anyway, it's well worth a look and the effort to figure it out. NO CHEATING!

    Thanks Andy.

    Re: Kudos to Andy Pope

Andy Pope, who along with a number of experts here have helped me out many times. I have also learned a lot from this forum.

With all due respect to Andy:
The mindreader, you refer to is an old trick that is simply a math [pre algebra] problem.
All two digit numbers XY are actually 10X + Y. If you subtract X + Y, you get 9X. And all symbols for 9 and its multiples are same. That's what you see in the crystal ball. Eveyrtime the game starts it changes all the symbols, but al 9, 18, 27 etc are always same as each other.

Old math trick or not, I still think it's a slick A Excel trick. I'll raise a pint for him.

    I agree.
As an Excel programmer, Andy is surely one of the best. I have a lot of respect for him.

    Richard,
I've just noticed (eyesight is not what it was at my age) that you have both "Microsoft MVP - Excel" and the MVP logo in your sig. I know you're proud and all, but isn't that a bit of overkill?

Maybe he's checking if the label in his pants (trousers... for you guys) has an MVP tag....

    Did you find it Richard?

This is beginning to resemble an MrExcel Lounge thread... where things get out of topic real quick

Maybe because Richard and Romperstomper and Domski got involved?

    ROFLMAO.

You go, Richard. If I were an MVP, I'd get a nice subtle tattoo, like on my forehead. And get an MVP license plate. And smoke MVP cigarettes. But nothing ostentatious.

Hmm, he's got a kid on the way - would you say 'MVP' was more of a boy's or girl's name?

Either that or the milkman is

We are 80% sure it's going to be a girl and the name we've chosen for her is Summer Isobel Erin Schollar.

A lot better than what my parents wanted to call me - Andrew Richard Schollar (until they realised what the intials spelled!)

What's the correct English term for "I also have this question"? -- Seconded? (That's more like supporting a suggestion, innit?)

And curious to see shg's tattoo first hand soon in Bellevue... if he shows up, that is.

As far as my luck goes (adding Murphy's law into the equation), I probably won't see either of you there, alas, although it definitely would be ***THE HIGHLIGHT*** in a week that will be the time of my life.
