Hi Kev_,![]()
That is a very old problem.
It has been with us longer than most of us have been here.![]()
A couple of days ago, I brought it up again.. ( . I thought I would try a different approach, just for fun
मैंने सोचा कि मैं एक अलग दृष्टिकोण की कोशिश करेंगे, सिर्फ मनोरंजन के लिए)

P.s. When you have any issue, take a quick look first down the first few pages of this Forum

You may find your issue already covered, so you can add to and bring back up the Thread if you need to , rather than starting another.
Or, as in this case you would see that it is already known about and there are “work a rounds” to get over them. ...
_..... Just saves having duplicate Threads on the same issue.![]()

Isn't it nice to all be in the same boat together![]()
For anyone that has been here more than a few months, the current working of ExcelForum is very refreshing. The new server move solved a major issue and a few other minor issues have been fixed.
One gets used to, and almost can like, some of the workarounds.
For example, although previously thought as somewhat unnecessary, some members are getting used to preparing their posts in Word. ( I am currently tidying up and sharing some codes the use extended shortcut keys on macros that do what some of the Forum edit icons do. I find then preparing is faster in Word anyway) . It can then can then be an advantage when the Reply window clears, - as you paste across all content anyway.
An Important point to note here is that only very minor changes such as Typos, Improved Thread Title etc. should really be done after you receive replies so as not to make any replies seem less suited..
The non working paperclip is annoying – as you have noticed yourself, even when you have it stated in your signature how to do it, it is still normal human nature to go for the more obvious paper clip icon option. It is a shame a temporary custom pop – up could not be assigned giving the instructions for the other two ways of doing it. ( See here for both methods currently available: http://www.excelforum.com/the-water-...his-forum.html )
At the time that the problem arose there were discussions that the problem arose
_ either
to some compatibility issue,
or
_ that some hacker had done something dodgy to it.
If the latter is true, then there may be some reluctance to dabble with it. ( Of course, some people prefer not to , or are not allowed to, download Files for security reasons )
_......
One very sad remaining problem is that the site is still blocked by some companies and this has shut out or severely limited the ability for some regulars to participate, those that had not completely given up in frustration already, http://www.excelforum.com/the-water-...ml#post4399923
That would be really nice if some old friends could come back, just my opinion.![]()

Why can't someone either "fix" this silly problem or simply remove the paperclip icon or even make it "invisible"The non working paperclip is annoying – as you have noticed yourself, even when you have it stated in your signature how to do it, it is still normal human nature to go for the more obvious paper clip icon option. It is a shame a temporary custom pop – up could not be assigned ...and newbies won't be continually banging their heads against that particular wall!
The PaperClip issue is currently in a list of things to do:

As I mentioned, one reason given was some compatibility issue. It was indicated that the problem might be solved by a version update.
The software version used by ExcelForum is ( was ) somewhat older than those versions used by other Forums using similar software.

_..It used to look similar to this, as it still does by other Forums using similar vBulletin software:

I am not too clued up on these things, but other members have commented that there is some amount of customising of the software done by ExceForum.

Because of this, it may be more difficult to update the software. This point may be emphasised by the recent Hiccup shortly after the Forum was transferred to a new server:

Sounds like we should stop "customising" - and remove any prior customisations.
As is common to many computer installations, the client always considers himself "different" and feels the need to meddle with the software instead of doing the sensible thing and changing his own behaviour to fit the software.
And the barrier to upgrade also becomes the excuse for not being able to fix things - unnecessary vicious circle.![]()
