Drop down Box

I have been using the List function in the Data validation for several years. Suddenly, the dropdown list does not function. I have deleted the old list created a new one, followed the instructions to the letter and nothing happens.
Before the thing stopped working, I could select the cell in the column and a drop down arrow would appear and I could select the info from my list and it would insert the data into the cell. Now the arrow never appears. the only function that comes close to working is the right click selection "select from drop list" and that list only contains info that is contained in previous entered data within the column that I am working with. I have exhausted my efforts, Help-Help

Can you attach the workbook and tell us which cell is supposed to have the dropdown?

If your list is on a different sheet to your data validation drop down then you'll need to give a name to the list and use the name in the data validation.
