DAX moving Average AVERAGEX v CALCULATE

Hi,

I''ve attached a workbook showing two calculations for a moving 7 day average; one has consecutive dates the other does not,


the two methods I've used are

the first seems to give a correct answer in both cases, but when the dates are not I can't see how it's calculating, It seems to add an extra day to the
divisor but I can't see the pattern, can someone see / explain the difference, there are two examples one consec, and one bit larger non consec.
