Excel not updating line graph labels

I am trying to create a simple line graph to track the growth of a stock price over time. I want to use the value at the end of each quarter, but when I select the appropriate data, the x-axis date labels don't match what's in the selected data range. I also changed the timing from monthly to quarterly but that didn't seem to work either. I deleted the whole thing and started over but that didn't make any difference. This seems like it should be so simple! What am I doing wrong? Thank you!

Right-click on the x-axis, Format Axis > Axis Options > Units > Change Major from 2 Months to 3 Months.

Thank you. That worked but I don't understand why you specify a data range but then Excel doesn't pull from that range. Logically, it seems like you should EITHER define parameters (like "every 3 months") OR give a range - but not both.

Excel does pull from the specified range. The "issue" was that the axis was formatted to show increments of 2 months instead of 3.

All of the data is in the correct location, it just isn't automatically formatted how you'd like.

If you hover over the second point, you will see that it is for Jun '14. If you look at the x-axis, you will see that the point is between May '14 and Jul '14 (which Jun '14 is).
