Can't use Excel VBA Controls under Windows7 Help!

    Hi Guys
I have recently purchased a new home PC running pre-installed Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and using Excel 2007.

I keep getting error messages with Common Dialog and more recently ActiveX controls - this stops me from entering my programmed application.

    Errors include:
"The control could not be registered because it is not properly licensed"
"The module 'c:\windows\sysWOW64\comdlg32.dll' was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterServer wasnot found.
Make sure that 'c:\windows\sysWOW64\comdlg32.dll' is avalid Dll or OCX file and then try again."

I have downloaded and installed Comdlg32.ocx into the \sysWOW64 directory and registered it as 'successful' with the Registry (elevated Cmd: prompt).

Any ideas please - all was OK under the"old" XP
    with thanks in anticipation

    Which version of Excel?

    Is this the Calendar controls?
    Hope that helps.

    Hi Roy
    Thanks for your quick response.

    I am using Excel 2007
It occurs using CommonDialogs with Actions set for "Print" and "Save As"
I am also getting "ActiveX component can't create object" errors.

Do you have a particular need for the Common dialog controls? It's generally easier to either use the equivalent API function or use a built-in Excel method when possible.

    Hi R
thank you for responding once more.
I still haven't resolved this issue yet and its slowing me down to say the least!

I don't need to use Common Dialogs - its the only way I know how yet.

My need is for a 'simple', comprehensive and professional way to select files; save as files and print.

Could you give me a lead on Excel 'methods' to start on these - say Print?

    with thanks

You can use the Application.Filedialog for that. There are dialogs for picking files, opening files and saving files.

    Many thanks again R.
    Always such useful advice.

I have experimented with xlDialogPrint and this is obviously going to work to good effect.
Is there a way to 'disable' Preview?
I will explore the various FIle dialogs.

I will probably dump any interest in Common Dialog controls now its not worth the possible hassle in distributing applications

    Thank you again

    Straight to your scales sir....!
