Hi, my name's Keith and right now I'm currently supposed to be studying for my Cisco CCNA exams... when I'm taking a break from study I like to play around with some Excel sheets I have knocking around for organising my roleplaying games, because playing with logical functions keeps my mind keen for all that network engineering I'm trying to get my head round while still being far enough off-topic to count as a breather.
Until now, Google has been my friend in finding solutions to the various abstract ideas I've had to try and make my roleplay spreadsheet as simple to manage as possible; I've had Excel jumping through hoops when it comes to re-using cell contents in other sheets, composing formulae for the collation of various in-game statistics for my players, and I even have a sheet on there which I use to keep track of what happened in the last gaming session and concatenating it into a single copy-able cell so that I'll have a nice write-up at the end of the campaign!
Unfortunately, although I've managed to achieve just about everything I've set out to do (no matter how complex) by searching for it on the interwebs, I've hit an unexpected wall over a matter that seems like it should be incredibly simple... if anyone out there knows of a wildcard character for numbers rather than text, please let me know at my question thread: http://www.excelforum.com/excel-gene...html?p=3370302
Other than that I'm afraid I don't have a very exciting life... I'm unemployed until I pass my Cisco course and hopefully get a job off that, my social life is pretty much limited to the roleplaying game I run for a few of my friends (which has been on hiatus for a while now, which is why I'm trying to re-ignite my enthusiasm by playing with the spreadsheet!), and I drink way too much caffeine and smoke way too much at four in the morning. Oh, and I play guitar, but I haven't been in a band for years... if you fancy a listen, here's our old MySpace page (last updated around 2005!): https://myspace.com/famousbyfriday
