Hi there,
I have a spreadsheet on a friends Mac which she uses to input Invoices.
All works fine, including a macro to backup the sheet to a dated and timed version in a backup folder on the same hard drive.
The issue I'm having is this:
The desktop and backup folder on the mac holding the spreadsheet is shared out to to network so that the one other mac, in the same room, can access the spreadsheet, open, edit and save it (back to the main machine). The problem is the path in the VBA.
From the main machine the backup works fine but from the second machine, the path fails because (I assume) I need to put the first machine Volume name in the path in the VBA to explicitly find the main machine's hard drive - and therefore the backup folder.
Both machines have the same hard drive name, i.e. 'Macintosh HD' and the backup folder is directly under that, i.e 'Macintosh HD:Invoices Backup:', but what I need to get right (and I've tried loads of different ways) is the prefix to specify which machine the backup folder is on.
I tried using the .local suggestion from Finder/Sharing as 'Mac-Pro1.local:Macintosh HD:Invoices Backup:', but that didn't work.
I tried ' afp://macpro1.home/Macintosh HD:Invoices Backup:' but that didn't work either.
. . .or maybe I'm 'barking up the wrong tree' altogether . . .
Any ideas?
Many thanks,
Jon
