    Auto Total from a list

    Hi everyone

I'm creating an expense spreadsheet but want to total each type of purchase, be it food, health, misc, etc. I managed something like this years ago but cannot remember how to do it (old age (isn't) golden). I have attached a simplified example.

    Thanks in advance.

Still using Excel 2021? Did you try SUMIF?

    =SUMIF($C$2:$C$17,J3,$G$2:$G$17)

I am enjoying my golden age - learning more than ever.

    Hi AliGW

No it's not Excel 2021 but Sheets on a Chromebook. Hate it but benefits don't allow for better at the moment.

OK - so please update your profile with what you are using (how else are we to know?) and please post your questions in the Other Platforms section. I am moving this thread. Thanks.
