Google Sheets: allow data entry only against current date (not past or future) dates

Dear Forum members,

In the attached file i have a column with dates and employee needs to input KM (distance travelled) in corresponding cells. How to prevent the employee from entering data for any past date or any future dates. That means the employee should be able to enter data for the current date only. The file will be shared through Google drive for all employees to access.

allow: Date

Set both dates: =Today()

and are you still using Excel 2007? Please update profile with your current version.

That's not in sync with the format I shared. Employee will require to enter KM (In) and KM (Out) against actual date. I wish to restrict them from entering KM against past date or future date. So if today is 21st Sept the employee should be able to enter data only against the date (21st Sept) and not in any other row or column.

=$B7=TODAY()

BUT you need column B to be Excel dates (01/10/2021 etc) NOT text values
