Google Sheets: Returning value of cell on the same row as another, when using MAXIFS

Hi all!

I'm having a competition for some kids that are competing in different groups. I'm trying to come up with an excel sheet which shows them the place that they are currently in.
Using MAXIFS I'm able to get the correct score. When trying to put the corresponding name to this score, this will sometimes give the wrong output when there are multiple contestants with the same score. It will always pick the first row with the score found.

Is there some way to use MAXIFS to get the value in the "Contestant" column to match the score value and group value?

I'm using docs.google.com spreadsheet for this - not sure which version of excel that is.
