I believe you need to check "remember me" when you log in that way when you return, you will still be logged in.....

For me the Remember me only fills in the username/password, I still have to press the button to login. I use the New Posts option but of course this is reset after I log back in.

A 30 minute time out would be about right.
    Cheers

    Yes,
I am always logged on automatically,I thought it may be the Remember Me check box, but maybe it's the browser that logs me in automatically.

I retried the Remember Me option, I'm using Firefox, and either it's working or it did not wait long enough.

When logging in if you click the remember me checkbox and then log in you will always be logged in as long as the site isn't navigated away from, there isn't an inactivity logout set for those that use the remember me function (as far as i can see), there may be times where an automated function of the site is taking place and people may become disconnected but its rare.

Unregistered/not logged in users cannot view attachments this setting has been changed, previously they could!, this way people would have to become a member rather than just code mine or download the attachments, we want them to come on in and experience what we have to offer - there's no point sitting on the outside looking in when membership is free!
Not all forums are the same - seek and you shall find

Okay I got the Remember Me part worked out. I need to remember to check it each time I login.

But there is still a time out going on as my New Posts list went from +3 pages to 12 posts.

I'm not sure what you mean Andy? the threads that show "Read" to you and your "Remember Me" are all cookie based, you shouldn't have to check the remember me checkbox unless you actually Log Out which clears your cookies, otherwise just leaving excel forum or "x"ing out will leave you remembered for next time.

    Hi Simon,

This morning I logged in around 8:30 and New Posts displayed +100 posts.
Without logging off New Posts currently displays 14 messages.

It seems to display the full list, those posts since last logged in, for about 10 minutes. Then it reverts to those in the last 30 minutes or so.

It's not such a problem as I can use the Today Post for a complete list.

Lol! i understand now, there is an inactivity timeout, if you are inactive for 15 minutes in a forum it marks that forum read, this is what is explained in the software:

If a user is inactive for this number of seconds, then their forum session will expire.

If you use "Inactivity Based" read marking (see General Settings), then an expired session also means that all unread markers will be turned off for posts made before the session expired.

In any case, the user will be removed from the "Currently Active Users" list when their session expires.
