    Version Control

    Hi,

I am wondering whether there is a way in excell to check for the latest version of the file.
For example, If I created a file called TDK_V1. This is saved on internet and if someone download it and keep using the downloaded version without checking for the latest version up there, can I make excel to automatically poop up a message saying use the latest version!

    thanks

    Hi,

You could keep a simple txt or excel file which holds the latest version reference, then in your main excel workbook open event read the latest version ref. and compare it with the ref number that's stored in the main workbook.

I believe this is possible. Check out these two links:

    http://www.decisionmodels.com/downloads.htm

(I haven't tried using either but I did create an offline version checker based on the code in Charles Williams Add-In Loader)
