vba code to format a cell when a pivot table field is NOT being filtered

I am trying to format a range of cells to grey font whenever the specified pivot field is NOT being filtered, and do nothing if the pivot field is being filtered. How can this be expressed in a vba code? Advice most appreciated. Thanks in advance.
