    Stand alone sort function

    Hi all
Is it possible to set up a stand alone sort function? I have a protected sheet that I want to be able to sort, I can sort in manually but I'd really like to set up an automated sort funtion. Possible or not??

    Thanks Dave

    What does this mean:

    Re: Stand alone sort function

What I mean is that at the moment I have to select all the cells in a day based group then enter the sort criteria. 7 day groups in my sheet so I have to do this 7 times. I'd like the sort criteria saved somewhere so I can just select all the cells and apply the sort. I know lazy I hear you say, not really I just want to standardise the method so everyone in our office produces the same result..

    Thanks

No, not lazy. Practical, sensible and economic with your time/resources.

I think you'd need to record a macro to sort the selected data. Might even be able to automate the selection but we'd need to see a sample workbook with some typical data.

I can't record a macro because this sheet is protected and I don't have the password.. It's one supplied to us to use but we don't like the way it's sorted....

What does the data look like? Can you add a new sheet or a new table, and maybe use =LARGE() or =SMALL()?
