How to save a shared to an unshared copy?

We have a shared spreadsheet. When it is saved, I need it to automatically create a copy. The copy needs to be unshared.

    The problem:
We use a shared spreadsheet to keep track of job progress (2.3Meg). The file is updated and saved several times a day. One of our remote employees has problems opening it (about 20 minutes). When they save it, it gets "jumbled and out of alignment". Our IT has had no luck fixing these issues.
When I save the file as a copy, then open and unshare it, the file size drops by about half and they can open it fine (see attached). They do not need to be able to write back. I have to email them the copy every morning. If I forget or am gone it can be a problem.

I'm guessing there is no way to do this without a macro (at the least). Any ideas?
