I have a list of over 700 company names for which I need their symbols. Obviously, I don't want to sit and look up every single company on Yahoo finance. Earlier, there was a thread posted about a similar issue and a solution was posted, but the code in the provided solution was only capable of looking up company names containing only one word (so anything including "Healthcare" or even "INC" would not return results). There is a great framework in the coding, but isn't quite capable of helping me out here. The source website may also be faulty. So, if you know how to allow the search contain multiple words and a source table of symbols, it should work.
Here is the link to that thread with the solutions: http://www.excelforum.com/excel-prog...ol-lookup.html
I am using Excel 2003, and a version was posted for Excel 2003, so it's in there.
If anyone could possibly do a little editing on the code in the Excel 2003 doc and test out a couple of these companies, I would be immensely appreciative.
If there is a better alternative to using code that assists in bulk symbol lookups, that'd be great too.
Thanks in advance.
