Excel Dates copied from CSV file dont show as Dates

hi I have a CSV file with lots information in. I copy this information to an excel document to create tables etc.

everything copies fine except the dates. the dates are formatted 2013-08-01 ie yyyy-mm-dd

I have changes the column type at destination to match this format but unless I enter each cell it does not pick up the format.
