Intelligent Column Width with Wrapped Text NOT AutoFit

This is kind of a soft question:

In VBA, I know how to turn on text wrapping for cells in a table, and I know how to AutoFit the column width.

I just don't like the results. Some columns get squished up and narrow with very tall rows (thanks to the wrapping) and some end up very wide (thanks to the AutoFit).

Has anyone developed or had any ideas on a method of determining column width that is a little more visually pleasing? Some way of splitting the difference between unwrapped wide columns and overly wrapped narrow columns?

    Thanks!

I suggest you give it a width, then apply the text wrap... if you do both text wrap and autofit, it'll look like a disaster..
don't worry, there's a lot of people that are far more confused than you
but if you liked what i suggested. Click for me the "Add Reputation" - that way, we'd be both happy.

Re: Intelligent Column Width with Wrapped Text NOT AutoFit

That is probably what I will be forced to do. I am hesitating to do that, because the amount of (text) in each cell varies considerably per column, so an across-the-board width is not desirable. I have a LOT of columns on a LOT of different sheets, so I don't want to manually define each column width.

I was hoping someone here had done some sort of calculation of what width should be based on average string length in the column or something....

Yes, fairly similar. Some columns have up to 5 digit numbers, some have single words, other columns have up to 50 or so characters.
