I would like to assign a specific macro to a custom toolbar icon, permanently available in Excel, but only active if you open a workbook whose title end in "_order.xls" , the section in front of the underscore being variable.
Is this possible?

Thanks hulpeloos, I appreciate your quick response.
I am aware of how to create a new button and assign a macro to it...My fault I should have been more specific.
I am trying to render the newly created button, and therefore the macro, active only when I open any excel worksheet specifically named "*"_order.xls and inactive, therefore unusable, in any other circumstance. I want the resultant button to be permanently in the Excel toolbar no matter which workbook I open though.
Well ok it will not be inactive but it will not run either when you select 'this workbook' or 'specific name' in the "macro's in :" option when assigning the macro to the button. (since your in 2003)

Thanks.
I'm limited to 2003 because of peripheral progs (access and a half dozen windows 95 based applications) which are dependent on Windows XP or earlier compatibility.
I am therefore learning backwards......![]()
hey other solution is Alwys add/remove when file is openend/closed
