Buttons in collapsed rows moved/resized on file reopen

    Hello there,

I didn't see anything on google for my problem so I'm asking here.
(english is not my mother language so be lenient)

I've got an excel file with row groups and buttons with macro (in some cells in those rows).
If I collapse the rows (-> buttons are not visibles) and then uncollapse the rows : it's ok, I see my buttons.

If I collapse the rows (-> buttons are not visibles) and close (+save) the file and then reopen the file, uncollapse the grouped rows : all buttons have disapeared.

    I hope I'm clear.

Did you have an idea on what's going on ?
And how to solve this problem ?

Thanks a lot in advance !

Re: Buttons in collapsed rows deleted on file reopen

I just see something : buttons don't disapeared but there are all on the first row of the group with 1pixel height (so I didn't see it).

Do you have some workaround ?

Re: Buttons in collapsed rows deleted on file reopen

I cannot recreat this problem. I created a workbook, inserted a button, grouped it's surrounding rows and collapsed the group but when I save exit and re-open the button is still the same size and shape when I expand the group.

are there any special conditions on the relative cells (locked and protected cells/sheet)?

    Hi Leon,

    Thanks for your answer.
No, I also try with a blank workbook like you and I've the problem.

I use Excel 2010, perhaps it's a bug in this version. I'll try to find a 2007 version to test.

    Hi again,

Move and size with cells. If I don't select this option, the button doesn't hide when I collapse the rows.

try save as xl2007 and open that in compatibility mode to check if it is just a 2010 thing

*also edit post title to no longer say "deleted"*

Re: Buttons in collapsed rows moved/resized on file reopen

    Hello Leon,

Sorry for the delay, the excel file was on a my work computer, I only can try now.

And same problem if I save in xls 97-2003 (not found a save as 2007 version) and open it in compatibility mode.

If I use picture, I don't have the problem. I see I can add a macro to a picture, this may be a workaround if I don't solve the button problem.

Re: Buttons in collapsed rows moved/resized on file reopen

I found this fix on the microsoft website : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2503335

Seems that it is a bug in excel 2010.

I install the fix and try. I let you know.

-edit- Yeah, it works ! Now I have to check if I need the fix on the pc where the file is created (and it will be ok if it used on another pc) or if the fix needs to be installed on every pc using the file...
