Excel hangs up when using a activex combobox

    Hi all,

i have a sheet with 2 activex combobox'. One of them is filled with a range of dates. It has a linked cell as well. When I use the combobox on my PC, everything goes smooth. The change event for that combobox is as follows:

When the workbook is opened on another PC(with the same version of excel), it hangs up after the combobox has been changed 2-3 times. I get the usual "Excel has encountered a problem and needs to be close blabla...".

The only difference between those two pcs are the specs(mine is slightly better) and the operating system - I'm running 7 while the other one is still on xp.

Does any of this make sense for anyone?

    thanks!

Seems to do the trick JosephP! Once again you make life easier for me.

I tried turning events off (enableevents) but didn't work. Could you elaborate why this approach works? And perhaps one last question: when the formating is changed via vba, the combobox doesn't start at the position of the selected item. That means, that if i chose something in the middle, the next time i click the button to show me all available options, I start at the very top instead from the selected item.

    Thanks!

enableevents does not affect controls so you've gotta use a variable

does the data in the list match the formatted value?

yes it does match the format. But the displayed value is in the format of a number (i.e. 41255). That means: when a date is already selected, the displayed value isnt formatted as a date. When i click on the button, the multiple options i can chose from are in the correct format though.

    Thanks
