Renaming of sheet name in all excel files of a directory

dear all
I am a medium user of excel 2003 and I love to work in excel
I am working for Government of India, Hyderabad
I noticed that sheet1 of all excel files in a directory is erroneously named as " Sheet1" i.e. with a space before name.
Now I want to change the name of all files without opening each file and rename then close......
plz help me

Well you can't. The best you can do is using a macro to loop through all files in that folder, open each file and rename the sheet and finally close the file.

If you use the command "Application.ScreenUpdating = False" you will not see the screen flickering so this will give the illusion that the files are not opened and closed.
