Show/Add Comments on Criteria

Say I have a sheet that displays a warning in a cell based on some criteria. I want to know how to display a comment only when the warning displays. The comment has to be only viewable to users, not printable, and will need to appear even when the sheets are protected.

I posted this in the Excel Formulas and Functions Forum, and the suggestions I got weren't what I was looking for. Could anyone help with this?

Maybe you could explain more what is happening if data validation doesn't work in your situation.

What is happening is nothing at all. The Data Validation approach doesnt do anything for me. I followed the example, and nothing happened. Not even when I changed data. I want something that displays for the user. It doesnt do me any good if the error doesnt show.

Besides, I dont want a warning box to pop up, I want a comment to appear so that the user sees why the "error" or "warning" is showing only when that warning appears. Otherwise, make the comment hidden.

I am looking specifically for adding/enabling a comment on criteria, as the title suggests.

Neither. I want the comment to show only when the Warning in column D appears. Otherwise, dont show the comment (perhaps it could delete the comment entirely to prevent that little triangle from showing). If the warning appears again, add the comment again and show it.

Any idea of how to do this?
