VLOOKUP data remains after source is deleted

    Hello,

I have a excel sheet with the following vlookup
    Formula: copy to clipboard

however once the Q102.xls file is deleted the data remains. Is there any way to change that? the only thing I could find is to uncheck "save external link values" and it didn't change anything.

Also if I update the Q102 file i have to close and reopen the vlookup file to see changes on it. Is this right? I only notice it does it if it's open in another instance of excel.

    Thanks

If you delete a linked file (so that it no longer exists), excel will give you the "ghost" of what the last answer was when the file was saved. If you pless F9 (calc workbook), it will probably give you an error and tell you it cant find the file
    1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)

thank you for the reply however it doesn't do anything when I calculate. Even if I close it and reopen it, it stays the same.
