Merge, Consolidation, and Grouping Question

What formula would be best to use when trying to automatically group/count data for similarly spelled names. I have small dataset that lists business name and units sold. I'd like to be able to apply a formula that would automatically group the data for similarly spelled business names into one name. I.e the sales totals for Johns Chevy and John's Chevy would report under John's Chevy. Is there any way to do this without having to do it manually?
