Excel Macro to increment invoice number by one

I am using Quattro Pro X6 and am trying to set up the computer for my father in law's business. All I want to do is make it so that the Invoice number moves up by one number each time he opens the document. I'm pretty sure I need to use a macro but I really don't know anything about them or how to put them in and make them run. Is there any kind soul out there with a bit of patience and can explain from A to Z exactly what I need to do to get this up and running? Thanks for your patience!!

This should do it for you. It assumes that the invoice # is in A1, if not you will have to change it.

Thanks...this would be great if I had Excel but I've got WordPerfect Office X6 and was using Quattro...any ideas?

I have Excel, don't know Quattro macro language, But the language could be near the same, you could try it.
