Macro to determine version of excel version

which i use it to open my file in a share drive during macro running.

actually it is a loop which the month will keep adding become another month and open another file based on new month.
but now some of the file is saved as .xlsx format.
how can i set the macro to determine the version of excel as .xlsx if .xls is not found?
