Create Circular link between two workbooks

I have a new excel workbook that I have created to track the progress of Corrective Actions in 2013. With help from folks on this forum, I have tailored the worksheet to identify that all required areas are complete, and if they are properly identified, the worksheet will indicate in the bottom-right hand two cells that a) the CAR is closed, and b) what day it was closed on.

This brings me to the next step... Logging the CARs. I want to know if it's possible to link a new entry to a log in a separate workbook, a "Log" workbook. I envision creating a log work book with a Macro button that automatically opens a new wrokbook containing the forementioned CAR workbook when depressed. In turn, when the identified fields are filled out in the CAR workbook, they back fill to populate required fields in the log; does this possibility even exist? Is there another way to accomplish the outcome of linking the two documents and reducing data entry to a minimum?

I am very new to the Macro and VBA Code scene, but I've been self-teaching myslef excel for years so I'm confident I could pick-up quickly with a little guidance. I really need to be steered in the right direction here because the automatic link from the CAR form to the CAR log is a necessity to make the change from the old system.

    Thanks in Advance!
