I am trying to work with one that somebody else made at least 10 years ago. I can not figure out what all was done and I am wondering if it would be easier to start from scratch and how?

That can be done in many ways depending on the details of the project. Can you be more specific?
there are 9 employees that rotate 9 different duties daily, 2 that rotate 2 duties weekly, and 3 that stay the same. I rotate monthly
Meant I print out the monthly schedule with the rotations for the employees
You should be able to do what you need without any VBA. I've attached a workbook that has a small example of what you could do for a weekly rotation. You can expand on it for more possibilities. A suggestion too, if you have access to Microsoft Outlook you could also just create a calendar, add repeating events for the duties, and print the calendar every month. That would probably be the easiest solution. The calendar could be shared as well.
In any case if you have any questions about the formulas in the workbook let me know.
