Want Closed Excel workbook to alert me when celll or cells with date match todays date

Hello

I want a workbook that contains date values for multiple records to alert me when date eventualy matches a future date ie todays date.
Example date in a cell = 21/03/2013 as expiry for mobile phone contract.
WHEN MARCH 21 2013 ARRIVES CAN I GET A WARNING OR MSG OR EMAIL FROM THIS CLOSED WORKBOOK

I'm pretty sure that would be a "no". I think, for the workbook to do something, it would need to be open.

The only suggestion, and not something I have tried, would be to use the Windows Task Scheduler to open the workbook on a daily basis from a *Trusted* location. A workbook open event would then check the required cell against the current date and generate the email. Loading from a trusted location means that you won't be prompted to enable macros, etc.
