Similar to Goalseek

I would like to find out how to make a function work that is similar to goalseek. I need to have B11 equal to C1 by changing cell D8. The function is listed in cell B11. At the same time, I need B12 to equal I1 by changing D9. I would like for this process to update after I change the values in C1 and I1.

Any suggestions on code?

Hi Pizzle and welcome to the forum

My 1st reaction was to say that if you want B11 to equal C1 (no matter what), then in B11, type =C1. However, that is probably way too simple.

I think it might make it easier for you to explain what you want (and get some suggestions) if you uploaded a sample workbook (excluding sensitive data) showing what you have, some examples of your expected outcome, and how you arrived at that

To attach a file to your post,
click advanced (next to quick post),
scroll down until you see "manage file",
click that and select "add files" (top right corner).
click "select files" find your file, click "open" click "upload" click 'done" bottom right. click "submit reply"

Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window.
You can then close the window to return to the new post screen.
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you

Re: Similar to Goalseek

I do want B11 to equal C1, but B11 is based on several other cells.

I can goal seek B11 to value "11.6" (C1) by changing D8 and it works. But as soon as my C1 value changes, I have to goalseek again. Also, the second iteration is based on this one, do I end up going through numerous goal seeks to get the values that I desire.

Unfortunatly, all the information on this worksheet is sensitive so I cannot share the file or even portions of it.

Re: Similar to Goalseek

Here is what I currently have. These have buttons on my worksheet to execute the function. The value of 11.6 is my C1 cell and the value of 70 is my I1 cell. My issue is that C1 and I1 change on a regular basis and as we know, goalseek does not let us set the 'to value' as another cell.

Perhaps you should check out the Big Brother of "Goalseek" i.e. Solver.

Unfortunately all the information on this worksheet is sensitive so I cannot share the file or even portions of it
well this is often a problem but can you not set up a similar relation between B11 and C1 in a file? What you have said is that you wish to find a B11 value that matches a C1 value and that B11 is dependent of a number of other cell values.

So if B11 = A2*15-D3/4 +5*G3 and A2 value must be positive and G3 value greater than 3.5 I don't think formulas like this could be called sensitive.
