Textbox Deletes LinkedCell Reference

I have multiple textboxes in a sheet (Excel 2010) that need to reference a seperate sheet. When I enter design mode and then select the properties option, I complete the "linkedcell" line. As soon as I click outside of the linkedcell block the path delets. It will not retain any data that I input in the "linkedcell" line. I have tried multiple path variations: =Sheet2!A1; 'Sheet2'!A1; ='Sheet2'!A2; etc. but to no avail! I've been working on trying to link these cells for the last 2 hours and have been unable to produce a solution.

How can I correct this, or do any of you have any recommendations?
