    Styles removed when needed.

I use a couple of workbooks that have created styles that are used a great deal. The trouble I'm having is when someone opens another workbook and then closes it, my styles are deleted. Is there a way to keep this from happening? Obvious answer: Don't open another workbook. I don't have control over that. It's getting to be a real pain in the caboose to go back and re-establish the styles in each cell that was changed. It also doesn't happen every time. It seems to happen purely by chance.

    Thanks,
    Doug

    Hi, Doug,

might be an event being triggered in the other workbook but that´s hard to tell without looking at the workbooks.

AFAIR the answer to this remark could be dictator workbook - a workbook that only allows one workbook in the instance of Excel.

I believe it is an event from the other workbook, cancelling my styles. How can I make mine, what you have called, a "dictator workbook"?

    Hi, Doug,

I strongly recommend to lay your hands on a version of the book Professional Excel Development (Second Edition) by Bovey/Wallentin/Bullen/Green where dictator applications are handled from page 141 to 164. If you can´t you may start with the Workbook_Deactivate/-Activate-Event, cut down the opening of other or new workbooks and keep and restore the settings at the end of the session (that´s what went wrong when I tested - still busy rebuilding a working Excel2000 version on this pc).

    Ciao,
    Holger
