i dont know about formula but if you just need to convert excel files to pdf why dont you just use on of the current sites like

you could also ask any of the owners if they help you out with what you need

I am not knowing you are Mac or Windows users, but any way pdf converter got the software for both platform, editing excel and output PDF files with PDF creator they provide.
