is it possible to edit the value of a calculated cell without messing up the formula

i posted this is a different forum section and didn't get any answers at all, so i'm hoping someone here can help me out.

ill try to explain what im looking for
lets say i have a value in A1, lets say its 100, and if i have B1 set to percentage and enter 100% C1 would return 200, so C1 would have "=A1*(1+B1)"
but, my question is, is it somehow possible to enter the value of C1 manually and have B2 return the increase in percentage "=(C1-A1)/A1"
and have both formulas working at the same time so i can decide which one i want calculated by entering the value in the other one.

Zargan,

Excel cannot hold a formula AND something else in the same cell. If you manually enter desired amounts (100% in B1, and 200 in C1), you could add formulas to B2 and C2 that do what you need them to do. So the formula in B2 would be '=(C1-A1)/A1' and the formula in C2 would be '=A1*(1+B1).

in a nutshell...no. you can either have a formula, OR a value/text in a cell, not both
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you
