Summing Hours worked by week given specific input file

    Hi,

I am enclosing an excel file to show what the input file i have looks like and what i want the output file to look like.

I have an input file which lists peoples names and they hours they worked during a specified start and end week number. NOte: The list can have the same person in multiple times in the list.

What i need is to create a "unique" list of people and the corresponding hours they worked during a given week.

Any ideas on how to do this? Having trouble coming up with a good way to do this.

i took a little closer look and the formula based soln does not work exactly like i had hoped. It does not show the hours correctely by week.

I am enclosing a new file as i have a new requirement as well.

There are some weeks simply labeled "wk" but the last two entries contain several weeks.

I have been trying to get my head around the best way to do this and to be honest i dont like whati have comeup with its very "messy" and lots of for loops everywhere.

I would like to do this via vba but if someone has another alternative i am open to ideas.

if you have questions please let me know.
