Fill selected cells by clicking another cell

I am making a schedule where I want to highlight 10 columns at a time. I am working with 4 rows and for example I want B1:B10 fill Red and A7:A17 fill blue etc. Is there a quick way to do this? I am hoping to simply fill in A6 with Red, A7 with Blue, then highlight the columns i want and simply click A7 to fill the selected cells red and so on. Does this make sense? It is becoming cumbersome to highlight the cells, then go to the fill toolbar click the down arrow then click on the color. Am I just being lazy or should I be able to do this fairly simply?

    Hi Tobyriley,

Have a look at Conditional Formatting. Maybe it could make things much easier for you.
