Removing Duplicates in Excel - based on most recent data?

    Hi

I have a spreadsheet of about 5000 company contact details, some of which are duplicated (i.e. same company & same contact name) but have different contacted dates (I'm in sales).

Bearing in mind that I have company names dupicated but with different contact names, I need to remove the older duplicates containing duplicated contact names, so that I'm left with the most recent data for that person at that company.

Example below in case this isn't clear....

1.Quintain Estates Mr David Crump 21/01/2011
2.Quintain Estates Mr David Crump 12/10/2009
3.RHWL Architects Mr Geoffrey Mann 26/02/2010
4.RHWL Architects Ms Peter Shaw 26/02/2010
4.RHWL Architects Ms Peter Shaw 13/09/2011

    So i want to remove Nos 2 & 4.

    suggestions please?

    hi
how are the data stored - do you for example have company name in column A, contact name in column B and contact date in columns C?
if so, the simplest way could be to sort on the 3 columns in that order, and delete the oldest duplicates, or do a filter
