field positions and labels

    Help!

I have an Excel spreadsheet that was a dump from a database. I have an additional page that gives me detailed Field Position, Field Label, Formats, etc. but I can not for the life of me remember what I need to use in order to get the spreadsheet organized. I know there is somewhere where I can simply enter 1-1 and the title, 2-18 title, etc.

im not really understanding your requirements. perhaps if you upload a sample file, showing what you have, and an exaples of what your expected outcome should be?
    1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)

    Re: field positions and labels

its a VERY large file. lets see if i can elaborate. i have a spreadsheet that has "record type," "name," "address," "city," "state," etc. under corresponding columns a,b,c,d,e, etc.

and then i have a seperate file that has the layout for what that spreadsheet should be. Field Position: 1-1, Field Label: record type. Field position 2-18, Field Label: Name, and so on.

i've done this before but its been a while. there is some function in excel where i would assign those field positions and the data would be sorted accordingly. i remember just typing in the field positions and it working. i just cant remember what that function is.

    any idea?
