    pdf-hyperlinking-macro-excel-2010

    Hello Community members,

My company sent out an RFI to the foods industry for digital pictures of their product labels including the UPC code that could be eligible to be included in our product list for our WIC (women, infant & child) food program. We have been copying the PDF file names (without the .PDF extension) into column 'A' of an Excel 2010 spreadsheet and then manually hyperlinking each cell to the file in our UPC-CODE folder. Need I say time consuming
The file names can contain leading (1 - 3) leading zeros, be variable length, have spaces separating portions of the numbers, such as; 007-54807-17177-6.PDF, 00015400196314.PDF, 00074807248231.PDF, 0 36800 22112 3.PDF, etc.

I knew you folk must have solved this problem an a search in this forum revealed a wonderful solution (http://www.excelforum.com/excel-prog...el-2010-a.html), however the macro removes the leading zero(s) as it fills the cells in column 'A'.

Can anyone suggest a solution to this dilemma?

    Thanks in advance,
    grnmtboy

The problem is not with the code, it's with excel ...

    Hi abousetta,

I tried adding the option .NumberFormat = "@" from your code and the leading zeros still dropped from the column rows.

    see attachment hyperlink macro results.jpg

The interesting thing it that when I hover the mouse pointer over the row, the leading zeros are displayed in a separate window.

    Thanks,

    Re: pdf-hyperlinking-macro-excel-2010

I have updated the code. What was happening is that the add hyperlink function was converting the numbers back to numbers instead of keeping them as text.

Have a look at the updated code in my previous post.
