macros not available after being recorded in personal macro workbook

I recorded 4 macros in the personal macro workbook. They worked fine until all of a sudden they were no longer available in the current workbook that I was working on. I have an "Excel inside out" book that says that you have to unhide it. I go to Windows/Unhide and this button is not even active on my workbook. There was another workbook open on the start menue that didn't have a worksheet in it, which I assumed might be the personal macro workbook. I clicked windows/unhide and a worksheet showed up on the screen. When I checked in this workbook (Tools/Macro/Macros) I see all four of the macros. But when I go to my other workbook (which I was currently working on) and I go to tools/macro/macros I don't see anything in there??? I am using excel 2003.
How can I fix this issue and make macros in pers macro workbook available everywhere as it should be? Thanks

    Does this help?

    http://www.rondebruin.nl/personal.htm

The personal macro workbook is a file all by itself which will be available to all open Excel workbooks.

Re: macros not available after being recorded in personal macro workbook

I totally agree. But I am trying to figure out why when you open Tools/Macro/Macros in Document A you see that you have nothing recorded under personal macro workbook nor current workbook (like you haven't recorded any macros anywhere) even though you have recorded the macros in pers. macro workbook and they worked just a while ago fine but not any more. Then when you open a document called personal.xls and check tools/macro/macros then you see all of the macros that you have recorded under personal macro workbook.
Maybe it has something to do with file type? Like how you record the excel file?
I was also trying to use the vlookup function to transfer data from one doc to another. So when I started the formula in file A and and then went to file B to choose the array it didn't let me (like the formula window doesn't transfer to this file but transfers to every other file). When I do window/arrange/vertical I can see three out of four files together and the file that I can not see is the file which I can not link the vlookup to. A colleague suggested that this might be due to the file type?

I reckon you have two separate excel applications running which would explain the formula problem
