How to INDEX/MATCH values from SharePoint List based on excel cell value?

    Hi,
We use SharePoint (2010) to manage & track projects (a List), and each project (an Item) is assigned a 'project number'. For estimating project costs, we use a spreadsheet (2010); which conveniently has several duplicate fields as the SharePoint List. I'm impatient and loathe double-entry, so...

It would be ideal if I could use an INDEX/ MATCH formula (or process to accomplish the same result) to say "In cell $B$1 (Customer Name), MATCH the 'project number' in cell $A$1 to the 'project number' column in the SharePoint List; then INDEX a different column in that List for the desired information (customer name, address, phone, email, etc).

Does anyone have any light to shed on the subject?

    Thanks!

    Hi Rerock,

If you have the data extracted in Excel, so lets talk only Excel for Index / Match. Upload a sample workbook with some indications / direction and let me give a try. Thanks.
