    Named Cells

an issue that has bothered me for years is when a sheet is moved from one workbook to another the listing of name ranges come along with it. I often speed hours cleaning up my name manager. Is it possible to pass a sheet or is a copy/paste required?

    Hi Bob,

    Welcome to the forum.

Is it possible to pass a sheet or is a copy/paste required?
Please help me understand "pass a sheet" ... ?
I guess starting Excel 2007, the name manager window is more user friendly where you can get to see more detail(s) as compared to Excel 2003 and previous versions.

    Re: Named Cells

a workbook has been cobled together from several workbooks which included various named ranges that do not apply to the new workbook. Often the named ranges come with a link outside the access ability of the current workbook's location forcing a broken link situation.

yes, but my point is how do you move/copy a worksheet without the named ranges following on the coattails of the worksheet?

    Re: Named Cells

Named range will be moved / copied with the worksheet.. alternatively, you can do a ctrl + A , Ctrl + C on source worksheet and then Ctrl + V on the destination worksheet and this is what I do when I just need the data and formula from a sheet / workbook which has a lots of defined names
