Formula to get an average based on time passed..?

    Hello all,
I would like to create a formula that will produce the average of a number of values.
The values will be inputted over a time period of one year and one row in the WS represents one week.
Not every week will have a value entered, however I need the formula to recognize how many weeks have passed and to divide the total by the number of weeks to get the result.
Can anyone give me an idea how this can be done...?
    Thanks

Please upload a workbook or a representative cut down copy, anonymised if necessary. It is always easier to advise if we can see your request in its context.

Show a before and after situation and if it's not blindingly obvious how you have arrived at your results some explanatory notes as well.
