    Re: Forecasting Formula

    Hi hgrh

Please could you clarify? Are you trying to forecast row 8? Is this a series problem (i.e. a determinable pattern that yields an accurate result), or do you just want to trend? Does column A determine column B?

Do you have an example we can follow to see what you are trying to achieve? An uploaded spreadsheet would probably help to clarify some of this.

    Thanks, Rob.

    Re: Forecasting Formula

I'm supposed to find 3-period moving average forecasts for periods 4 through 7 to at least two decimal places of accuracy, and also calculate MAD and Bias on the spreadsheet using additional columns. I'm an older student at university and I tried asking my professor and he just told me that I should do by hand if I can't do it by excel, well I want to learn how to do this by excel, I'm sure the assignments will just get harder.

I uploaded an attachment of my excel, maybe it's not showing, it's at the beginnning of my post (I went back and edited).

    Re: Forecasting Formula

You had the cells formatted as text, which may have made it more difficult to get the formula to cooperate:
